ZONA V. LYONS

Zona V. (Maxey) Lyons, age 75, of Covington, Kentucky, formerly of McCreary County, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, at the St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky.

She was born at Winfield, Tennessee, on September 29, 1940, the daughter of the late Charles and Nora (Stephens) Maxey.  Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Lyons, who passed away in 1998,  She is also preceded in death by brothers: Tony Maxey, Kenny Maxey, Hoyle Maxey, Odell Maxey, Coleman Maxey, Hoyt Maxey, John Murphy, Luster Privett and Cledeus Starett, and sisters: Helen Braden, Imogene Stephens, Shirley Maxey, Opal Thomas, Edna Meadors, Hazel Baker and Flonnie Murphy.

She is survived by four daughters: Glenda (and Anthony) Adams of Independence, Kentucky; Vivian Lyons of Covington, Kentucky; Alison Gross of Beech Grove, Kentucky; and Vedra Gaylor of Covington, two sisters: Addelene Gregory and Frona Bryant, one brother: Willard Maxey..   She had 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Zona was an entrepreneur and along with her husband owned several businesses in the northern Kentucky area including a construction company, a grocery store and a bar.  She enjoyed working with crafts, gardening and working in the yard.  She especially enjoyed being with her family who will truly miss her.

Funeral services:  Friday, July 8, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at McCreary County Funeral Home

Visitation:  Friday, July 8, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Interment:  Carter Cemetery, Whitley City, Kentucky.
