Willie Leethel Braden age 90 of Winfield, Tennessee died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Carl âCubbyâ Clark officiating. Burial followed in the Hill Cemetery in Strunk, Kentucky with full Military Honors.
He was born October 28, 1921 in Marsh Creek, Kentucky to Jimmy C. Braden and Susie (Angel) Braden. Willie was a member of the Zion Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. He enjoyed farming, coon hunting, and going to church. Willie was formerly a truck driver for the coal industry.
His mother, father, children, Kathryn Hamilton, Brenda Mae, Jimmy, Danny, and Timothy Braden, 1 grandchild, brothers, Joseph, Lawrence, Conrad, and Clarence Braden, and sisters, Mayme Thomas, Hazel Caddell, and infant sister, Ethel Braden, precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley (West) Braden of Winfield, TN; children, Barbara Smith and husband, Douglas, of Pine Knot, KY, Elmer W. Braden of Cincinnati, OH, Willie Braden and wife, Peggy, of Georgetown, KY, Linda Fay King and husband, Larry, of Smithville, MO, Shirley Waters and husband, Jerry, of Somerset, KY, Ron Braden and wife, Theresa, of Winfield, TN, Johnny Braden and family, of Pine Knot, KY, Marilyn Houston and husband, Ed, of Cincinnati, OH, Joy Braden and husband, Clay Hollingsworth, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Jean Norman and husband, Bob, of Oneida, TN; step-children, Joe Craig Anderson and wife, Susan, of Owensboro, KY, Rhonda Laxton and husband, Kirk, Angela King and husband, JC, Dale Anderson and wife, Shannon, all of Winfield, TN, Bradley Anderson and wife, Tonya, of Helenwood, TN, and Cammie Wilson of Oneida, TN; the mother of his children, Susie Marie (Kidd) Braden of Pine Knot, Kentucky; a sister, Geneva Gilreath of Williamsburg, Kentucky; 24 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchild; and 15 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to recognize and give appreciation to the following Pall Bearers; Sam Andreson, Jonathan Braden, Keith Braden, Jamie Waters, Jared Waters, Michael Braden, Wesley Daugherty, and Dale Anderson.
