Vernon "Bulldog" Dean Strunk

Vernon “Bulldog” Dean Strunk, age 85 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Friday January 12, 2024 at his home.

He was born in Stearns, Kentucky on April 29, 1938 the son of James William and Nancy (Strunk) Strunk. Vernon was a retired coal miner and truck driver and a member of the Day Ridge United Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and telling stories from his childhood days.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Tucker) Strunk; and son, Jimmy D. Strunk; a daughter, Diane Strunk Stephens; and a sister Gertie Strunk.

Survivors include his daughters, Robin Strunk of Whitley City, Kentucky and Miranda Clark (Tim) of Whitley City, Kentucky; sons, Tim Strunk (Betty) of Burnside, Kentucky and Darren Strunk of Whitley City, Kentucky; sisters, Willie Meadows of Corbin, Kentucky and Kat Tanner of Whitley City, Kentucky; grandchildren, Shanon, James, Jimmy Joe, Samantha. Coy, Danyelle, Shiana, Brandon, and Breanna; great grandchildren, Bradley, Jacey, Zander, Waylon, Emah, Alma, Bryleigh, Laycee, Kellin, Nella, and two on the way; and one great-great grandchild, Koda.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Irene Strunk Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11am Thursday at the Funeral Home.
