Velma J Shoopman

Velma Jean Shoopman, age 74, of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed away Wednesday September 9, 2015 at her home.

Funeral service will be Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 am at the McCreary County Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends on Friday, September 11, 2015 after 6:00pm at the McCreary County Funeral Home.

Velma was born on February 1, 1941 to the late Lawrence and Polly (Vanderpool) Bryant. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers: McKinley Bryant, Tom Bryant three sisters:Mickey Walker, Helen Morlock and Fannie Green.

Velma is survived by her Husband of 54 years, Donald Shoopman, Daughter: Theresa Bowen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Grandchildren: Tony Bowen, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Ashley Gonzales and husband Joey, of Hastings, Minnesota, one great grandson: Joshua Gonzales of Hastings, Minnesota, three brothers: Raymond Bryant and wife Dorothy, Donald Bryant and wife Janie, and Bill Bryant, one sister: Louise Lovett of Rockhold, Kentucky.

Velma was a member of the Pine Knot Southern Baptist Church. She retired after twenty five years as a clerk, a position she really enjoyed with K-Mart Corporation.  Velma was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and really enjoyed spending time with her family, including her church family.
