Vella Marie Winchester

Vella Marie Winchester, age 92 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was born in White Oak Junction, Kentucky on June 7, 1931 the daughter of Jasper Tapley and Vertie (Waters) Tapley.  Vella was a homemaker and member of the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Being with family, cooking, and singing in the Church Choir were her enjoyments in life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Doyle Winchester; brothers, Donald Tapley and Ronald Tapley; and sisters, Flora Boyatt, Hazel Slaven, and Sheila Thompson.

Survivors include her son, Bruce Winchester and wife, Diana of Stearns, Kentucky; daughter, Vickie Johnson and husband, Jim of Stearns, Kentucky; brother, Jimmy Tapley and wife, Judy of Stearns, Kentucky; granddaughter, Jessica Douglas; great grandson, Jase Douglas; and sister in law and constant companion, Geneva Wilson of Pine Knot, Kentucky.

Private Graveside services will be held at the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery.
