Vannah E. Stephens age 97 of Stearns, Kentucky died Friday, August 10, 2012 at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pine Knot, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Vaughn and Rev. Brent Stephens officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery.
She was born October 26, 1914 in Four Mile, Kentucky in Bell County to Henry Lee and Allie Mae (Owens) Taylor. Vannah was a homemaker and a Charter member of the East Apple Tree United Baptist Church.
Her father, mother, husband, Atlas Lawrence Stephens; sons, Michael and Eugene Stephens; a great grandchild, 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl, Alonzo, and Conley Taylor; and sisters, Verna Hamlin, Virgie Stephens, Elva Martin, and Norma Thompson, precede her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gilreath of Stearns, Kentucky; brothers, Calvin Taylor and wife, Sarah, of South Lebanon, and Archie Taylor of Florence, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
