Thelma Adell Bates Honeycutt, age 86 years, of Pine Knot, Kentucky died October 15, 2012 in Pine Knot, Kentucky at the McCreary Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11am in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. James M. âDocâ Upchurch and Bro. James (Fred) Upchurch officiating. Burial was in the Dodson Cemetery.
She was born in McCreary County, Kentucky on November 19, 1925 the daughter of the late William and Sarah Emma (Casada) McKenley. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.
Her parents; husbands, William Edward Bates and Emo Honeycutt; sister, Zelma Ball; son in law, Leonard Vanover; 2 granddaughters; and 1 grandson precede her in death.
Survivors include her sons, William Mack Bates of Pine Knot, Kentucky, James Edward Bates, Johnny Jr. Bates, and Ricky Lee Bates all of Monticello, Kentucky, and Frankie Ray Bates of Pine Knot, Kentucky; daughters, Betty Adell Vanover of Monticello, Kentucky, Zelma E. Upchurch and husband James M. of Covington, Kentucky, and Peggy Sue Newsom and husband Worley of Pine Knot, Kentucky; brothers, James Flynn of Oliverst, California and Roy Flynn of Whitley City, Kentucky; and sisters, Esma Davis of Wiborg, Kentucky. 19 grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter, and numerous great and great great grandchildren also survive.
