Stratty M. Hurt

Stratty M. Hurt, age 79 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born in Pisgah, Kentucky on January 14, 1946 the son of the late Charlie and Fannie (Coffey) Hurt. Stratty had worked as a truck driver and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR racing, and especially his daughter and his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Woodrow Sharp, father and mother-in-law, Willard and Cora Dobbs, sister, Julie Davis, and brothers, David Hurt, Haggie Hurt, and Shirley Hurt.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Brenda (Dobbs) Hurt of Stearns, Kentucky; daughter, Teresa Hurt of Stearns, Kentucky, sister, Carolyn Slagle (Kay) of Monticello and Kentucky, Dianna Messamore (Marty) of Monticello, Kentucky; brothers, Charles Hurt (Mary) of Attica, Indiana, Jerry Hurt of Monticello, Kentucky, and Stanley Sharp of Monticello, Kentucky, also numerous nieces and nephews and his good fishing buddy, Eddie Atkins.

Funeral services will be held 3pm Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Bell and Bro Wayne Inman officiating. Burial will follow in Dobbs Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 1pm Sunday at the Funeral Home.
