Shanda Clark, age 85 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky, wife of the late Gene R. Clark and mother of Steven Clark, died Monday, January 3, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Stearns, Kentucky on October 23, 1936 the daughter of the late John Lawrence and Vina Jane Foster Brown. She was a school teacher, and taught the students of McCreary County. She joined the Stearns First Baptist Church at 15 years of age and was a dedicated member for 71 years. She loved literature and was an avid reader who continued her education throughout her life. She also enjoyed hiking, finding wild flowers, listening to music and picnics with her family.
Her husband of 62 years, Gene Clark, her parents, Lawrence and Vina Jane Brown; brothers, Billy Joe and Rev. Randall Brown; sisters, Betty Edwards, Burma Stephens, and Janet Mefford, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Steven and his wife Melinda Clark of Whitley City; brother, Tommy and wife Sharon Brown of Stearns; sisters, Patricia and husband Ralph Roaden of Corbin, Brenda Stanchfield of Smithtown and Pam and husband Don Douglas of Whitley City; grandchildren, Joshua and wife Heidi Clark, Jessica and husband John Roth, Katelyn and husband Brian Tisdale, Aaron Clark and Emily Clark; along with numerous great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and .sister-in-laws; Bonnie Brown of Pine Knot and Sue Carol Rathbun of Adairsville, GA whom she loved like sisters.
Per her wishes, Shanda was cremated and a Memorial Services is scheduled at Stearns First Baptist church with Rev. Hilton Duncan, 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Saturday, January 15, 2022.
