June 30, 2021, Wilma “Ruth” Taylor went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on the 19th day of May, 1934 to Charlie Plezzie and Mary Lou Vernon. She was the loving wife of Charles Fred Taylor, and the mother of Mary Lucille Flinchum, Leonard Garvey Vernon, Carol Estelle Powell (Connor), Charles Fred Taylor Jr., Paula Lorraine Taylor (Gene Johnson), Frank Vernon Taylor (Laurel), and Joy Adaline Slebos (Jon). She was predeceased by her parents, husband and children, Lou, Charles and Leonard. She had 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She was a member of the Dixie Bend United Baptist Church for many years.
Ruth was a very precious gem who loved her family more than life, always taking care of others above her own wants and needs. Over the years, Ruth enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, canning, singing, raising flowers, fishing; but mainly, just being with her family. She was a Teacher’s Aid for the McCreary County School Board for many years after raising her children.
This beautiful mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, friend and Christian woman has gone where the soul never dies, nor feels sorrow or pain. As Ruth was an angel that walked on the earth, she is now with her beloved Savior and husband in the glorious kingdom of heaven.
Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Rufus Hughes and Bro. Mike Hammond officiating. Burial will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery 1:30pm Wednesday. The family will receive friends after 9:30am Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
