ROY PERKINS

Roy Perkins, age 89 years, of Saluda, South Carolina died September 14, 2012 in Newberry, South Carolina at the White Oak Manor.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11am in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie King officiating.  Burial was in the Holloway Cemetery.

He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on May 4, 1923 the son of the late Ben and Maggie (Foster) Perkins.  He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Apopka, Florida, a 62 year member of the Orie S. Ware Masonic Lodge #874, had served in CCC, Army, and retired from the Air Force, a heavy equipment mechanic for Zellwood Farms, a heavy equipment manager for John Deere, and obtained a Botanist License and started his own Greenhouse.

His parents; wife, Mary (Ryan) Perkins; brother, Coy Paige Perkins; and sister, Irene Perkins precede him in death.

Survivors include his son, Howard Ben Perkins of Newberry, South Carolina; daughters, Galia Perkins Stephens of Pine Knot, Kentucky and Peggy Perkins of Saluda, South Carolina; and brother, Roland Perkins of Dayton, Ohio.  Grandchildren, Brad Stephens, Gene Perkins, Roy Stephens, and Sandra Perkins; 12 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and niece and nephews, Jay Dudley Wilson, Mary Elizabeth Wilson, Josh Wilson, and Ryan Wilson also survive.
