Roy "Buddy" Lee Phillips

Roy “Buddy” Lee Phillips, age 78 years, of Stearns, Kentucky was called home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his residence.

He was born in Cooperative, Kentucky on April 22, 1946 the son of the late Huey and Bertha (Hill) Phillips.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Boyce Dean Phillips; sisters, Bonnie Lou Phillips, Caroline Prewitt, and Claudine Noe; and granddaughter, Emily Patrick.

Roy is survived by his wife, Betsy (Ross) Phillips; his daughters, Sylvia (Richard) Decker of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Pam (Russell) Bryant of Stearns, Kentucky, and Caroline (Ethan) Jones of Stearns, Kentucky; grandchildren, Lucas Decker, Kameren Patrick, Christopher Patrick, Kenzie Bryant, and Elijah Jones; and one great grandson, Aiden Hammock; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Roy was of the Baptist Faith and loved to sing gospel music. He had been a member of the Hallelujians and the Patrick Family which he enjoyed. He was the Owner and Operator of the R & R Monuments for 50+ years serving family’s needs in McCreary County and surrounding areas. He had also served his country in the US Army.

He took pride in his family, and loved each and everyone. He always had a joke to put a smile on your face. Roy was always there when you needed him most.

Graveside services for family and friends will be held 4:30pm Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the Angel Cemetery.
