Roland Edward Sumler

Roland Edward Sumler, age 87 years, of Pine Knot, Kentucky died Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on March 19, 1937 the son of the late Wilie Oscar Sumler and Nancy M. (Stephens) Sumler. Roland was a mechanic, served his country in the US Army, and attended the Davis Hill Church of God. Fishing, whittling, and woodwork were his favorite hobbies.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Alice (Brown) Sumler; daughter, Nancy Smith; brothers, Estes Sumler, Ray Sumler, Morris Sumler, Bobby Sumler, and Coy Sumler; and sisters, Christine Day, Wilma McHale, and 1 infant sister.

Survivors include his son, Roland Edward Sumler, Jr. and wife Terri of Ormond Beach, Florida; brother, Paul Sumler of Whitley City, Kentucky; and grandchildren, Roland Edward Sumler III, Carlye, Corena, and Bobbie Jo.

A private burial was held at the Angel Cemetery.
