Roger Gene Truax, age 67 of Whitley City, Kentucky died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 5, 2011 with Bro. Roger Shoopman and Bro. Carl (Cubby) Clark officiating. Burial followed in the Laurel Cemetery with full Military Honors.
He was born on August 12, 1944 in Marathon County, Wisconsin to Richard L. Truax and Florence E. Gebauer Truax. Roger was a member of the Hickory Knob United Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #115. He was Veteran of the U.S. Army, having fought in the Vietnam War and was of the Sargent Rank. Roger received medals for good conduct and sharp shooting. He worked as a welder and had many hobbies, one being wood work.
His father, mother, and brothers, Philip and Ronald Truax precede him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Jones and husband, Daniel, of Whitley City, Kentucky; son, Gary Truax of Whitley City, Kentucky; brothers, Gary Kasper and Nathan Truax of Cascade Wisconsin; a sister, Rena Henke of Mosinee, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
