Roger Rose

Roger Rose, age 69, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott in Oneida, Tennessee.

Roger was born March 14, 1946, in Honey Bee, Kentucky, to the late Cye and Alma (Renfro) Rose.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Jimmy and Burnell Rose and an infant brother, and a sister: Norma Faye Rose.

Surviving family include his wife of 50 years, Shelby (Evans) Rose of Parkers Lake whom he married September 17, 1965, two sons: Terry (and Cathy) Rose of Whitley City and Tom Rose of Parkers Lake, and a daughter Tracey Alcorn of Oneida, Tennessee.

Surviving brothers are John “Bill” Rose (and Bev) of Antwerp, Ohio, Carness Rose (and Norma) of Parkers Lake, Randall Rose (and Mary Ann) of Parkers Lake, ans sisters: Wilma Taylor (and George) of Parkers Lake, Lena Stogsdill (and Ralph) of Burnside, Glenda Hurd of Parkers Lake, and Verna Patrick (and Jesse) of Parkers Lake.  He has six grandchildren: Toby Rose, Tyler Rose, Amber Barnett, Casey, Josh and Dakota Alcorn, and one great-granddaughter: Adeline Golden.

Roger was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and took great pleasure in working.  He liked old cars, Nascar, boating, four-wheeling and watching the wild animals coming into his back yard.

Funeral service will be Saturday November 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the McCreary County Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Eagle Creek Cemetery in Parkers Lake. The family will receive friends on Friday November 27, 2015 from 6 til 9pm at the funeral home.
