Robert Wayne Tapley, age 63 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died April 8, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his wife, daughters, family and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, April 12, 2013 at 6pm at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Edwards officiating. Burial was in the Troxell Cemetery.
He was born in Muncie, Indiana on February 14, 1950 the son of Amanda Tapley Turney. He was raised by his grandfather, William Pete Tapley and a special aunt, Minnie Tapley. He was a truck driver, a member of Orie S. Ware Masonic Lodge #874, a member of America Music Association and loved playing music with the Kentucky Mountain Trio, in Nashville with Kathy Bell on the Trinity Broadcast Network, and at the Big South Fork Scenic Railway.
He loved his community and helping others with benefit singings, motorcycle rides, Relay for Life, and any other way he could be of service.
He was preceded in death by his mother, grandfather, aunt, two step daughters, Uma Gowin, and Nancy Sumner, one sister Ricki Turney and one grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Tapley; one step son, Frank Gowin and wife Cathy of Stearns, Kentucky, six step daughters, Judy Slaven and husband Scotty of Marshes Siding, Kentucky Karen New of Strunk, Kentucky, Mandy Foster and husband Merle of Stearns, Kentucky, Millie King and husband Tim of Somerset, Kentucky, Goldie Byrd of Afghanistan, and Cathy Parker and husband Ricky of Knoxville Tennessee. 14 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive.
