Robert "Larry" Jones

Robert “Larry” Jones, age 69, passed away at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky, on Wednesday, July 6, 2016.                                                                                              He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on November 5, 1946, the son of the late Thurman and Mable (Earls) Jones. 

Larry is survived by his wife Nelda of 47 years and his sons, Scott Jones and Larry Alan Day.  He also has three surviving brothers: Arlis Jones and wife Sharmine of Wilmore, KY; Rodney Jones and wife Joann of Somerset, KY; Ruben Jones and wife Rhonda of Parkers Lake, KY, and sisters: Sharon Conatser and husband Roger of Mt. Sterling, KY, Katy Gilreath and Lana Perry of Whitley City, KY, Beverly Hatfield and Barbara West of Stearns, KY, Angela Owens of Burnside, KY, Patricia and husband Paul Kearney of Pine Knot,  and Donna Jones of Lexington, KY.

He was a valued employee of McCreary County Funeral Home, a cattle farmer, a loving husband and proud father.  Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitley City Church.  He enjoyed, the Cincinnati Reds baseball, University of Kentucky basketball, spending time with his family and numerous friends.

Funeral services where held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the McCreary County Funeral Home. He was laid to rest at the Angel Cemetery.
