RETHA POWELL TAPLEY

Retha Powell Tapley, age 81 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died May 5, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held Monday May 9, 2011 at 2pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Rufus Hughes and Bro. Billy Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Higginbotham Cemetery. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS AFTER 12NOON MONDAY MAY 9, 2011 AT THE FUNERAL HOME. She was born in Stearns, Kentucky on May 22, 1929 the daughter of the late George and Luvernia (Dykes) Mays. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dixie Freedom Baptist Church. Her parents, son Johnny Blakenship, grandchildren Tammy Pingleton and Harry Smith, Jr., and all brothers and sisters precede her in death. Survivors include her husband Ronald L. Tapley, son Donald Powell and wife Shirley of Whitley City, Kentucky, daughters Glenda Stevrer and husband Gary of Dry Ridge, Kentucky and Wilma Smith of Independence, Kentucky. Grandchildren Misty Powell and Sherry Jefferson and great grandchildren Danniel Pingleton, Courtney Howard, Chasity Jefferson and Chloe Jefferson also survive. McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
