Pauline Keith Sumner, age 73 of Whitley City, KY gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, January 31st, 2021 at Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky. Pauline was born on February 22, 1947 to Reverend Charlie and Evelyn Owens Keith.
She married Bobby Lee Sumner on October 30, 1965 and on the corner of Williamsburg Street they raised their family and became incredible pillars of the community.
Bob and Pauline have owned Bob’s Auto Sales for 49 years. She had also been a bus driver for the past 19 years. She found so much joy transporting kids to and from various events, but ball games were probably her favorite as she thought she should have been coach. (Just ask the girls)
The thing she will be most remembered for is tending to others. She would say, “You take care of people and God will take care of you”. Pauline loved the Lord and was a lifetime member of Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church and spent a lot of time restoring the church and bringing the work of the Lord to that community, hosting Bible School and Sunday School there for many years.
She loved singing, going to the beach, and spending time with her family, especially watching all her great grandbabies grow up.
Pauline never met a stranger, never hesitated to voice her opinion, and she could make you mad as quickly as she made you laugh. Her kids and grandkids will miss this the most about her. She had an infectious smile, quick wit, and a huge heart that she shared with her family and everyone around her.
Pauline was met at the heavenly gates by her husband Bob, her parents Charlie and Evelyn, her sister Betty, and a big crew of special family and friends who have gone on before her. Still on earth to celebrate her life are her three siblings, Ann Six, Rachel Wilson, and Clifford (Linda) Keith; her children: Rick (Connie) Sumner of Williamsburg, KY; Cindy (Wayne) New of Stearns, KY; Teressa (Larry) Brown of Stearns, KY; and Bobby Lee Sumner, Jr (Crystal) of Whitley City, KY; her grandchildren: Brandon (Opal) New, Jessica (Nathan) Mason, Chaz (Chelsey) Duncan, Charli (Jeremy) DeLaughter, Chadden Duncan, Kelsie Brown, Bree Brown, Natalie Sumner, Stevie Gibson, Derrick Sumner, and Dustin Sumner; and 18 great grandchildren who she loved to spoil.
Funeral services will be held 1pm Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Staley officiating. The family will receive friends after 6pm Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the church.
McCreary County Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
