Oscar "Bud" Bolin

Oscar “Bud” Bolin, age 86 of Marshes Siding, KY gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 at his home, exactly 15 years from the date his wife went to be with the Lord. What a reunion they must’ve had.

Bud was born on April 7, 1937 to Elmer and Florence Souleyrette Bolin, and was raised in Alpine, KY alongside his four sisters. Bud married Lucille Young Bolin in 1959, and they raised four wonderful children together. He was a member of the Marshes Siding Church of God, and he worked as a welder and coal truck driver. Bud enjoyed tinkering with vehicles, fishing, hunting, gardening and getting surprise deliveries of veggies and local honey from his nephew Ricky, porch-sitting, and telling stories to his family and friends about all these things…he was a great storyteller and had an infectious smile. Above all else, the lights of his life were his 16 great-grandchildren.

Bud was most certainly met at the heavenly gates by his wife Lucille, his parents, and his sisters: Thelma Lyons, Louise Lyons, Opal Boyers, and Pam Simon.

Survivors include Bud’s children:  Rhonda Bolin (Dillard), Connie (Scott) Musselman, Mike Bolin, and Shannon (Ronnie) Privett; his loving grandchildren: Michael Tapley, Eric Hollingsworth, Mallory (Luke) Arnette, Jessica (Nathan) Mason, Braxton Kidd (Marissa), Brook Privett, and Allison (Derrick) Cooper; and his precious great-grandchildren: Jaxon Tapley; Bryson Cooper; Skyler, Summer; Ryan Hollingsworth; Landyn; Eden Arnette; Kyler, Kampbell, Kayne; Evelyn Mason; Lennox Kidd; Camden and Blake Privett; and Bransen; Wesley Cooper (and another sweet baby boy on the way).

The family of Bud Bolin will receive friends at the McCreary County Funeral Home after 1:00pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023, with the funeral beginning at 3:00pm with Bro. Harry Watters officiating. Burial will follow alongside his loving wife in Carter Cemetery.
