Nora Sumner age 86 years of Whitley City died Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Ray Sumner officiating. Burial followed in the Taylor Ridge Cemetery.
She was born November 11, 1924 in Barren Fork, Kentucky to Earlie Virgil Perry and Hattie Watson Perry. Nora was a member of the Taylor Ridge United Baptist Church and had formerly worked at the Cumberland Falls.
Her father, mother, husband, Edwin Sumner, a son, Donald Ray Sumner, an infant brother, an infant sister, sister, Linda Lou Vanover, and grandchild, Patricia Hicks precede her in death.
Survivors include her children, Bobby Gene Sumner and wife, Wilma Ruth, Geraldine Hicks and husband, Arvel, and Richard Harold Sumner, all of Whitley City, Kentucky; brothers and sisters, Starling Perry and wife, Della, of Stearns, Kentucky, Darvin Perry and wife, Joanna, of Whitley City, Kentucky, Carl Perry and wife, Katherine, of Ohio, Clifford Perry and wife, Elsie, of Indiana, Wanda McCullah and husband, Ray, of Whitley City, Kentucky, and James Perry and wife, Mary, of Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Linda Jean Sumner of Whitley City, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Darrell Vanover of Whitley City, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
