Mitchel Len Vanover, age 67, of the Sand Hill Community of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at the Jean Waddle Care Center at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, in Somerset, Kentucky.
Born on March 31, 1949, he was the son of the late Mahan and Irene (Bryant) Vanover. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Staley, a brother: James Howard Vanover and an infant brother.
Surviving family include his wife Betty (Barnett) Vanover whom he married July 11, 1967, a son: Brian Vanover of Whitley City, and two brothers: Chester Vanover and Darrell Vanover, both of the Sand Hill Community.
Mitchel was a butcher by trade and manager of the meat department at Kroger in Whitley City. He was a member of the Taylor Ridge United Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on cars, traveling, camping and four-wheeling.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Rufus Hughes and Rev. Lenville Maxwell officiating. Burial will be at the Barnett Cemetery on Sand Hill Road. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time for services.
