Merial Lee Carter, age 66, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Hospice Care Center of St. Joseph Lexington.
Mr. Carter was born September 9, 1948, in Somerset, Kentucky, the son of Marion Lee and Wilba (Jeffers) Walker. His father precedes him in death. His mother, Wilba Walker lives in Whitley City, Kentucky.
Surviving family includes his wife Sandra (Daugherty) Carter whom he married March 10, 1972, a son Derek Carter, two daughters, Kelli Carter and Emilee Carter, and three grandchildren: Grace Disponett, Taja Owens and Teryn Owens, all of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. He has one brother, Jeff Carter of Whitley City, Kentucky and eleven sisters: Sandy Morrow, Monique Watson, Siotha Taylor, Tessa McClendon, Vanessa Smith, Nancy Carter, Kim, Gayle Hays, Laurel Martens, Stacey and Kathy.
Mr. Carter was retired from Toyota Manufacturing in Georgetown, Kentucky, where he was jokingly known as the Godfather. One of his favorite things was cooking for his fellow workers. He loved everything outdoors including fishing, camping and playing softball. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and he collected Mickey Mantle memorabilia, he was also a fan of the New York Yankees and Braves. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the Reserve.
