Melvin Lee Stephens, age 70 years, of Pine Knot, Kentucky died December 11, 2011 at his home. Masonic funeral services were held Wednesday December 14, 2011 at 2pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home. Burial was in the Stephens Family Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Perry officiating.
He was born in Pine Knot, Kentucky on April 15, 1941 the son of the late Elbert and Ida Geneva (King) Stephens. He was a Christian, a truck driver, a member of Hebron Lodge #757, and the Covington Scottish Rite.
His parents, brother Ronald Stephens, and sister Katherine Johnson precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife Shirley (Prewitt) Stephens of Pine Knot, Kentucky, sons Anthony Pete Stephens and wife Jandy of Donalds, South Carolina, Christopher Stephens and wife Shella of Hebron, Kentucky, and Robert Stephens and wife Patricia of Pine Knot, Kentucky, daughter Pamela Stephens of Pine Knot, Kentucky, brothers Bruce Stephens and wife Ella, Joe Stephens and wife Lynn both of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Tim Stephens of Georgia, sisters Barbara Littrell and husband Walter of Strunk, Kentucky and Francis Burke and husband Allen of Pine Knot, Kentucky. 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive.
