Maxine Jones Waters went to Heaven on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at her home in Whitley City, Kentucky after a courageous battle with cancer.
Maxine was born October 19, 1932, in Pine Knot, Kentucky, to the late Franklin Crabtree and the late Cora Crabtree Cooper. She was a member of the Marshes Siding Church of God.
For many years Maxine worked as a beautician in Whitley City.
In 1972 Maxine, Chester “Happy” Jones, Kathleen and Bill Marnhout founded and established the McCreary County Funeral Home. After much encouragement from her late husband, Chester "Happy" Jones she attended the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville, Kentucky. Maxine became a dual licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1975. A brief change ownership of the funeral home took place in 1991. In 2002, Maxine and husband Jimmy Waters, regained ownership of McCreary County Funeral Home where she served the community until her passing.
Maxine loved her work, and the service she was able to provide to the community. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, and she loved her immediate and extended family with a passion.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Chester "Happy" Jones, her sister, Betty Jean Morrow, and one brother, Leroy Crabtree. Maxine is survived by her husband, Jimmy Waters, of Whitley City, KY; her daughter, Vicki Kidd and husband Roger of Whitley City, Kentucky; one-step daughter, Kimberly Crabtree and husband Mike, Pine Knot, Kentucky; two sisters, Kathleen Marnhout, Whitley City, Kentucky and Joan Smith and husband Bill of Knoxville, Tennessee; one brother Jim Paul Crabtree and wife Judy of Muncie, Indiana; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that were dear to her heart. Maxine will be sorely missed by all who knew, respected and loved her. She's enjoying sitting at Jesus' feet and being with her loved ones. We know that we have this blessed hope that we shall meet her again.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. David Troxell officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Angel Cemetery on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
