Mary Ruth Wood

Mary Ruth Wood, age 77 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was born in White Oak Junction, Kentucky on July 13, 1947 the daughter of the late Henry and Zelma (Jones) Ridner. Mary had been a home maker and member of the White Oak Junction United Baptist Church. Talking, watching TV, drinking coffee, and being with family especially her grandchildren were her enjoyments in life.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Rufus McCoy; son, Alton McCoy; brothers, Richard Ridner and Edward Ridner; sisters, Arlena Shoopman and Lula Mae Ridner; and 4 great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Berdenia Watson of Whitley City, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jessica, Robert, George, James, and Isaac; and a great grandchild, Gracie Lynn Watson.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Shook and Bro. Tommy Tapley officiating. Burial to follow in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11am Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
