Lula Belle Chitwood, age 71 years, Whitley City, Kentucky died May 4, 2010 at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky. Funeral services were held Friday, May 7, 2010 at McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Staley officiating. Burial was in Holloway Cemetery. She was born at Marshes Siding, Kentucky on March 26, 1939 the daughter of the late Carl and Melvola Roberts Young. She was a retired machine operator and member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Junior Young and sisters, Wilda Mae Sexton; Lucille Bolin; Beulah Stephens and Freda Young. Two grandchildren are deceased. Survivors include her husband, Abe Chitwood and her children, Steven M. Chitwood and wife, Tona; Darrell Chitwood and wife, Marilyn; Tommy Chitwood and wife, Rhonda; Daryl Shane Chitwood; Freda Strunk and husband, Jeff; Patsy Vanover and husband, Tim and Patricia Chitwood and fiance, Bobby all of Whitley City, Kentucky. The surviving brother and sisters are, Kenneth Young, North Carolina; Peggy Worley, Florence, Kentucky; Janice Chitwood; Judy Chitwood; Flonnie Chitwood and Debbie Corder, Whitley City, Kentucky. Sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren survive. McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
