LEONA DIXON

March 27, 1947 — January 31, 2016

Leona Dixon, age 68, of Pine Knot, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2016, at Baptist Health Corbin.

She was a retired Certified Nurses Assistant having worked for Lifeline until 2007.  She was a member of the Mt. View United Baptist Church and enjoyed yard selling, sewing, working puzzles, cooking for the kids and taking care of those she loved.

Leona was born in the Mt. View Community of Stearns on March 27, 1947, to the late Goldman and Lillie (Coffey) Godsey.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband William Clinton “Bill” Stephens, two children: Mark and Patricia Stephens, two brothers: Melvin Godsey and (wife Carolyn Godsey) Edward Godsey, and a sister Melva Ross.

Surviving family include her husband Lincoln Eugene “Gene” Dixon, a son Vance Stephens (wife Glena) of Whitley City, three daughters: Connie Snodgrass (husband Matthew) of Somerset, Barbara Buntin (husband Steve) of Peotone, Illinois, and Billie Jo Murphy (husband Chris) of Russell Springs.  She has two surviving brothers: Ronald Godsey (wife Sherri) of Oneida, Tennessee, and Arnold Godsey (wife Janice) of Whitley City, three sisters: Velva Dean Clark (husband Albert) of Muncie, Indiana, Linda Godsey Stephens of Whitley City and Della West (husband Joe) of Sunbright, Tennessee, a sister-in-law Charlene Godsey, eight grandchildren: Bridget Lawless, Ashley Fisk, Corbin and Taylor Hall, Bryson Hicks, Brooklyn Stephens, Breanna Stephens and Ryan Stephens, and two great-grandchildren: Austyn Lawless and Carter Lawless.

Funeral services:  2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at McCreary County Funeral Home

Burial:  Pine Knot Cemetery

Visitation:  Monday, February 1, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
