Laura Jane Godby age 67 of Parkers Lake, Kentucky died October 4, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Eagle Creek United Baptist Church at 5:00 pm with Rev. Bill Patrick and Rev. Bob Goodin officiating. Burial followed in the Eagle Creek Cemetery.
She was born May 9, 1944 in HoneyBee, Kentucky to Lanceo Taylor and Helen Ball Taylor. Janie was a member of the Eagle Creek United Baptist Church and before her illness, she was a CNA for the Cumberland Manor.
Her parents; a son, Stoney Allen Godby; brother, Buddy Joe Taylor and sisters, Jada Taylor and Thelma Joyce Barnett precede her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Gordon Godby of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; children, Junior & Betty Taylor, of Whitley City, Kentucky, Larry & Karen Freeman Godby of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Donnie Godby & Merari Alverado of Immokalee, Florida, Ron & Annie Godby of Chicago, Illinois, Scott Godby & Junetta Mason of Lexington, Kentucky, Sharon Godby & Derek Stephens of Pine Knot, Kentucky and Kay Roberts of Strunk, Kentucky; brothers and sisters, Joanita Freeman of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Jack Taylor of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, David Taylor also of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, June Mackey of Corbin, Kentucky, Justin Taylor of Lima Ohio, and Evelyn Mutters of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Samantha Jo, Alisha, Christopher, Michael, Jacob, Cody, Jordan, Mary, Grace, David, Elizabeth, Tony, Maddox, Derek, and Isaac; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Lyndsey, and Keegan. A special sister-in-law, Pearlina Taylor, many very special nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Louise Brumley, also survive.
