JON HARLAN MILLS

January 15, 1941 — June 23, 2017

Jon Harlan Mills, aged 76 years, of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born in Wayland, Kentucky, on January 15, 1941, the son of the late Henry and Delta Hoff Mills.  He was also preceded in death by brothers, Lee Mills, Euian (Margie) Mills, Wayne (Ruth) Mills, and infant Robert Mills and sisters: Bonnie (Robert) Stewart and Helen Koontz (surviving husband Eugene).

Surviving spouse of 57 years, Zella Faye Vanover Mills of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; surviving daughter, Debbie Mills Weaver, granddaughter: Elyse Mills and grandson Matthew Weaver of Anthem, Arizona.  Surviving cousin: Patty Wilson (Keith) Sloan of Burnside, Kentucky, nephew, Tim (Cindy) Mills of Russell Springs, Kentucky, niece Cam (Gary) Bullock of Palm Harbor, Florida, and other family members and dear friends.  Also surviving is his beloved hound, Jilly and blue heeler, Smokey.

Jon retired from Ford Motor Company, Batavia, Ohio in 1995.  He has been a member of the Florence Masonic Lodge, Florence, Kentucky, since 1983.  Jon loved music and played the piano; his teenage rock’n’roll band had a program on Somerset Radio in the 50’s.  Jon enjoyed nature and the outdoors and he was an avid fisherman who loved boating on Lake Cumberland.

Jon had chosen cremation and will be buried at Mill Creek Cemetery, Mill Creek, Kentucky.  Family and friends will have a Celebration of Life graveside service at a later date.  All who knew and loved Jon will remember him as a loyal, honest man of integrity.
