Dr. John F. Porter, age 78 years, of Destin Florida died December 13, 2012 at the Destin Healthcare and Rehab. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 1pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Mr. Gary Simpson officiating. Burial was in the Hill Cemetery.
He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 31, 1934 the son of the late John and Mary Dorothy (Mattingly) Porter. He was a Hospital Administrator for the United States Air Force and a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church.
His parents; wife, Betty (West) Porter; brother, Charlie Porter; and an infant brother precede him in death.
Survivors include his sons, John Anthony Porter of Los Angeles, California and Kevin Eric Porter of Kindsbach, Germany; daughter, Lori Welsh of Niceville, Florida; twin brother, Jimmy Porter of Ohio; brothers, Steve Porter of Ohio and Eddie Porter of California; sisters, Mary Jecker of Florida, Janice Ridge and Joan Blocker both of Minnesota, and Carolyn Baressi of Louisville, Kentucky. Grandchildren, John Brandon Porter, Kyle Welsh, and Rebecca Welsh also survive.
McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
