James Arnold “Jimmy” Stephens, age 81, passed away while surrounded by family on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at his home in Pine Knot, Kentucky.
Jimmy was born in Jellico, Tennessee to the late Arnold Stephens and the late Grace (Creekmore) Stephens on March 12, 1940. He was a member at the Pine Knot Southern Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Jimmy was a teacher and retired from the Job Corps, in addition to that he ran his own wrecker service and car lot in McCreary County. He loved his family, his wrecker service, and his car lot. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Elizabeth (Stephens) Davis; one granddaughter, Randi Elaine Chitwood; and one great-grandson, Grant Nolan Daniel Torkelson.
He is survived by a large host of loving family, including: his wife of 57 years, Jean Stephens; one son, Randy Stephens (wife April); one daughter, Lisa Stephens; one brother, Charles Stephens; grandchildren, Ashley Torkelson (husband Jesse), Alyson Johnson (husband Micheal), Rachel Strunk (husband Matt), Tristin Stephens, Zachary Chaney, Tevon Stephens, Jerica Stephens, Allyson Tucker, Caden Stephens; and great-grandchildren, Riley King, Vaeya Torkelson, Ronan Torkelson, Kambree Johnson, Kyndrix Johnson, Hadley Strunk, Declan Strunk, and Everly Strunk.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00pm EST on Thursday, June 3, 2021, in the Chapel of the Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Neal officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the funeral home. Interment is to follow the funeral service and will be in the Pine Knot Cemetery. Funeral services are being directed by two of Jimmy’s grandchildren, Zachary Chaney and Ashley Torkelson.
