Jimmy “Sam” Dale Daugherty, age 55, born in Jellico, Tennessee. The son of Alma Whitehead Daugherty and the late Verlin “Bud” Daugherty.
In addition to his father, Sam was preceded in death by his infant sister: Delores Daugherty. Grandparents: Clave and Arlie Daugherty and Ethel and Denton Whitehead.and aunts and uncles: Glen Whitehead, Emma Douglas, Dorothy Daugherty, Zella Lee Daugherty, Starlin Daugherty, William Sterling, and Dallas Elkins.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his brother: James “Pete” Daugherty, uncles: George Whitehead, Ardel Whitehead and Ale Daugherty, aunts: Jewel Whitehead, Judy Whitehead, Wilma Sterling, Judy Casada, Doris Hall and Audrey Jones, nephew: James “Jamie” Daugherty, along with numerous cousins he also leaves three special friends: Doyle Morgan, Bill Stephen and Red Bill Stephens.
Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, flea markets and spending time with his family and friends. His hobby was recording music and he loved listening to and collecting Hank Williams Sr. music. He was exceptionally gifted musically and could sing and play stringed instruments of any kind. He never met a stranger. Sam will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, we know our loss is heavens gain.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017, in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. David Troxell officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening beginning at 6:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Nancy Grave Cemetery.
