Harvey Raymond Matthews

Harvey Raymond Matthews Jr. age 48, died Saturday, March 25, 2017, at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.

He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on September 18, 1968, the son of Harvey and the late Mabel Inman Matthews.

Surviving family include his father Harvey and wife Wilma Matthews of Stearns, son: Corey Matthews of Stearns, two daughters: Amber Ball and husband Trey of Whitley City and Paige Taheny and husband Louie of Whitley City, two grand-children: Jackson and Layla Ball and two on the way, two brothers:  Danny Joe Matthews and wife Fran of Whitley City, Donald Matthews and wife Sandie of Dora, AL., sisters: Teresa Shannon and husband Lonnie Ray of Stearns, Debbie Worley and husband Roger of Oneida, TN. and Rita Matthews the mother of his children.

Harvey enjoyed wood working, fishing, camping, amusement parks, the beach and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.  He was a member of the Day Ridge United Baptist Church, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, we trust our loss is heavens gain.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Hobert Corder and Bro. Alan Coffey officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time for services.  He will be laid to rest at Roberts Chapel Cemetery.
