Grover Columbus Wilson, age 86 years, of Strunk, Kentucky died January 30, 2012 at his home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. George Harold Sexton and Dr. Chase Wilson officiating. Burial followed in the Jones Cemetery.
He was born April 2, 1925 the son of the late Richard Franklin and Ardilla (Brown) Wilson. Grover was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, the Orie S. Ware Lodge #874, and was also a DAV member. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country well in WWII (august 3, 1943- January 11, 1945). He was of the 42nd Infantry Division, the 79th Infantry Division, and was wounded in battle in France (July 9, 1944). Grover had later worked in Grocery. He was a vivid businessman who owned and operated the B & G Market among other numerous business ventures.
His parents, children Grover Carey Wilson and Rosette Wilson, brothers and sisters Woodrow Wilson, Bill Wilson, Harry Wilson, Rosellan Gilreath (Vaughn), Richard "Dick" Wilson, Eddie Wilson, Jimmy Wilson, Benny Wilson (Jessie), Frankie Nesbitt, and brother-in-law, Ottis Anderson precedes him in death.
Survivors include his wife Betty Fay (Jones) Wilson, grandchildren Grover Chase Wilson, MD (Nicole, PharmD) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Cari Lynne Wilson and fiancé, Jesse King of Pine Knot, Kentucky, daughter-in-law Vicki Wilson of Pine Knot, Kentucky, sisters Faye Baird (Emery) and Betty Lou Anderson both of Strunk, Kentucky, Drucella Voss (Charlie) of Florida, Patty King (Ronald) of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Goldie Stephens (Joe) of London, Kentucky, brothers Bobby Wilson of Strunk, Kentucky and Costello Wilson (Doris) of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and sister-in-laws, Cora and Pauline âTootsâ Wilson, both of Strunk, Kentucky.
