GERALD EUGENE STRUNK

Gerald Eugene Strunk, age 67 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in Corbin, Kentucky at the Hillcrest Nursing Home and Rehab. Funeral services were held Friday, January 13, 2012 at 1pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Denver Gilbert officiating. Burial was in the Higginbotham Cemetery.
He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on January 29, 1944 to the late John Marion and Ethel Emma (Brooks) Strunk. Gerald was of the Church of God faith. He had formerly worked in a factory, logging, and was the manager of a restaurant. Gerald loved music and was a vivid outdoorsman. He enjoyed gardening, sightseeing, watching car races, and flea marketing.
His parents and brothers John Strunk, Jr. and Donald Strunk precede him in death.
Survivors include his companion Vernie Hensley of Lily, Kentucky; brothers Kenneth Randall Strunk and wife, Peggy, Jay Wendell Strunk and wife, Fredia, Doyle Strunk, Lowell Strunk and wife, Judy, all of Whitley City, Kentucky, and R. Darrell Strunk and wife, Donna, of Pine Knot, Kentucky; and sisters Janet Faye Payne of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nancy Kay Neal of Pine Knot, Kentucky, and Susan Atchley and husband, Howard, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
The family would like to extend their heart felt appreciation to all the wonderful staff of the Hill Crest Nursing Home for all the loving care provided to Gerald during his stay there.
