Floyd Richard Lewis, age 87 years, of Greenwood, Kentucky died June 14, 2012 in Lexington, Kentucky at the VA Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 2pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Young officiating. Burial was in the McCreary Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Parkers Lake, Kentucky on April 1, 1925 the son of the late Roy and Artie (Hamblin) Lewis. He had worked as a machine operator in the bedding industry, was a member of the American Legion Post #115, and had served his country during WWII and the Korean War.
His parents; wife, Mary Rose (Young) Lewis; brother, Morgan Lewis; and sisters, Mary Jo Runion and Illa Shaver precede him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Gary Lewis and wife Shirley of Dillsboro, Indiana, and Derwin Lewis and wife Connie of Harrison, Ohio; daughter, Lisa Thomas and husband Rick of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers, Morris Lewis of Brownsburg, Indiana, Estes Lewis of Revelo, Kentucky, Lloyd Lewis of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, and Louie Lewis of Muncie, Indiana; and sister, Shirley Bryant of Whitley City, Kentucky. Grandchildren Ricky Lewis and wife, Brally, Ronnie Lewis and wife, Angie, Byron Lewis and wife, Christina, Shannon Miller, Jason Lewis and wife, Misty, Michelle Cortz and husband, Freddie, And Jennifer Finley and husband, Dan, and 14 great grandchildren also survive.
