Estol Lee Kidd, aged 81, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at his home in Stearns, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 26, 2011 at 8:00 pm at the McCreary County Funeral home with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. Burial followed Monday, November 27, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Pine Knot Cemetery.
Mr. Kidd was born April 8, 1930 in Pine Knot. He was the son of the late Elmon Kidd and Edna Rose Wilson Kidd.
On October 23, 1948 he married Nellie Anne Lovett in Williamsburg, Kentucky. Anne died on Nov. 29, 1998 after 50 years of marriage.
His mother and father, brother Edgar Allan Kidd, sister Eva Christine Kidd Carter, and daughter-in-law Pamela Ann Stinson Kidd precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Lough Kidd, whom he married on Oct. 5, 2002 in Monticello; a daughter, Karen Gale Kidd Lovett (Vernon Troy Lovett) of Louisville; a son, Estol Lee âButchâ Kidd, Jr. of Louisville; grandchildren Peter Allan Lovett of Louisville, Jeannie Kathryn Lovett Barrick (Clinton Forrest Barrick) of Lubbock, Texas, Elizabeth Leigh Kidd (Andrew Watson) and Elliot Leighton Kidd of Louisville; Great- grandchildren Rachel Kathryn Barrick and Analeigh Finn Watson; and brothers Edwin Melton Kidd and Billy Elmon Kidd (Norma). A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Kidd graduated from Pine Knot High School at age 16 and briefly attended Cumberland College. He moved to Mt. Healthy, Ohio in 1960 where he worked as a long-distance truck driver at the Dixie-Ohio Express. He retired in the mid-1980s and moved back to Monticello, Kentucky. He then began work at the Job Corps where he was a beloved driving instructor. Mr. Kidd was also a Master Mason. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #431 in Monticello. For many years, he was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Monticello. He was a handyman who took great joy in building things for others and delighted in teaching others his craft. Above all else, Mr. Kidd, was fiercely loyal to his family. He believed that family was âeverythingâ and enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything else he did in life.
