Mr. Estel Ray Spradlin, age 67, of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.
Born in Sawyer, Kentucky, on April 30, 1947, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Lettie (Perry) Spradlin. He is also preceded in death by his wife Wanda (Bryant) Spradlin, a great grandson Jaymison Spradlin and a sister Willa Mae Perry Spradlin
Surviving family include his sons; Edward Allen Spradlin (and Elizabeth) of Charleston, South Carolina, Manuel Turner Spradlin (and Dwight Bassett) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Michael Spradlin (and Stephanie) of Parkers Lake and Eulis Spradlin (and Carie) of Parkers Lake. He has two brothers; Donald Perry (and Anna) of Parkers Lake and General Lee Spradlin (and Pat) of Sawyer, Kentucky, two sisters; Ellen Goodin (and Dow) of Sawyer and Mila Smith (and Jerry) of Sawyer. There are 11 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Ray had been a coal miner for Ridener Coal Company for most of his working career and had worked for Hinkle Contracting Corp. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Kinne Slaven Post 115 of the American Legion. He enjoyed mud riding and visiting friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 6, 2015, in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Benne and Bro. Dow Goodin officiating. Special music will be by Johnny Goodin. He will be laid to rest at the Bryant Cemetery with military honors delivered by the American Legion. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time for services at the funeral home.
