EMERSON C. BROOKS

July 5, 1921 — December 30, 2011

Emerson Brooks, born July 5, 1921; the son of the late John Brooks and Winnie Hunley Brooks; deceased this life December 30, 2011.  Emerson was a life long resident of Beulah Heights, McCreary County, Kentucky.  He married Desda Perry Brooks December 31, 1940.  They being blessed with two sons and one daughter.  Emerson was a member and a deacon of the Beulah Heights Church of God.  Emerson was a member, past master, and was chaplain of the fraternal order of free masons, Greenwood Lodge #903, Greenwood, Kentucky.  He had worked in the coal mines, lumber mills, cut timber, farmed, and had retired from the US Forest Service.

Emerson is deceased by his father, mother, wife, one son, and one granddaughter, four brothers and eight sisters.

Emerson is survived by one son Doyle Brooks of Beulah Heights, KY, and one daughter Earlene Hicks of Somerset, KY, a brother Bob Brooks of Whitley City, Kentucky, a brother Ed Brooks of Beulah Heights, Kentucky, a very special friend Cora Wilson of Pine Knot, Kentucky. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Beth Brooks, David Brooks, Justin Brooks, Galin Brooks, Jeff Brooks, and Sheila Budnick.  There are ten great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Emerson’s legacy of life will forever be remembered for his love of God, his love for always being in church; and praying for the lost; and the sick.  We all will miss this witness and prayer warrior.
