Ellen Shook Coffey

Ellen (Shook) Coffey, age 71 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was born in Jellico, Tennessee on December 20, 1952 the daughter of the late Sylvester and Goldie (Gregory) Shook. Ellen had retired from ABC as a machine operator and was a member of the Pleasant Knob United Baptist Church. Flowers, gardening, reading, paint, crafts, kayaking, family, especially her grandbabies and great grandbabies were her enjoyments in life.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Andrew Wayne Cooper; grandchild, Peyton Coffey; brothers, Edward Shook (Orene)m Wayne Shook, Jimmy Sylvester Shook II (Kathern), and William “Bill” Shook; and sisters, Shelby Jean King, Iva Sue Jones (Ervin), and Hazel Troxell (Jesse).

Survivors include her husband, Phillip Coffey of Stearns, Kentucky; sons, Fred Cooper (Hallie) of Stearns, Kentucky and Luke Coffey of Stearns, Kentucky; daughter, Shelly Cordell (JR) of Stearns, Kentucky; brothers, Bruce Shook (Joan) of Monticello, Kentucky and Dale Shook of Stearns, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Jean Shook and Roxanne Shook both of Stearns, Kentucky; grandchildren, Andrea Becker (Thomas), Bryer Cordell (Tessa), Gavin Cordell (Chantay), Sean Cooper, Rayne Cooper, Ryver Cooper, Ryder Cooper, Macey Welchel, Hank Baird (Destiny), and Bubba Baird; and great grandchildren, Lilly Becker and Rosalee Becker.

Funeral services will be held 8pm Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Troxell and Bro. Jason Shook officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends after 6pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
