Denzil Leon Tapley

Denzil Leon Tapley, age 77 years, of Strunk, Kentucky died Sunday, November 27, 2022 at his daughter’s home.

He was born in Barthell, Kentucky on January 9, 1945 the son of George Lewis Tapley and Pearl (Watters) Tapley.  Leon had worked as a high lift driver for McCreary County Hardwoods, and served his country in the US Army. He enjoyed working, splitting wood, hunting, and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Denver Tapley; daughter, Josephine Tapley; one infant child; brother, George L. Tapley, Jr; sister, Lois Goodwin; and great granddaughter, Kylee LaDonn.

Survivors include his wife, Josie (Privett) Tapley of Strunk; sons, Ronald Tapley (Rhonda) of Pine Knot and Donald Tapley (Marie) of Strunk; daughter, Debra Spradlin (Michael) of Strunk; brothers, Quentin Tapley (Connie) of Revelo and Mike Tapley (Mary) of Stearns; sisters, Anna Acres of Stearns, Carolyn Coffey (Carl) of Georgia, Vonda New (Leonard) of Stearns, Stella Tapley of Stearns, and Flora Perkins (Jay) of Monticello; grandchildren, Tiffany Stephens, Tasha Kennedy, Samantha Bryant, Brandie Tapley, Sierra Tapley, Heaven Tapley, Chelsea Patrick, Dylan Strunk, and Chasity Haynes; and great grandchildren, Chaylenn, Deslyne, BrynLee, Asher, Aubrey, Kyson, Kenleigh, Stormi, Asher, Noella, Blakelee, Kolson, and Anistann.  

Funeral services will be held 1pm Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Neal and Bro. Tommy Tapley officiating. Burial will follow in the Jesse Privett Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Tuesday and all-day Wednesday at his daughter’s home 423 Murphy Ridge Rd Strunk, Kentucky 42649.
