Coy Randle Sumler, age 72 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Sunday, August 27, 2017 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee at the Methodist Medical Center.
He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on February 9, 1945 the son of Willie Oscar and Nancy M. (Stephens) Sumler. Coy had worked as a Roof Bolter in the coal mines. He was of the Baptist faith, member of the paraplegic’s of America and loved fishing.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Estes Sumler, Ray Sumler, Morris Sumler, and Bobby Sumler; sister, Christine Day; and 1 infant sister.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Leora (Slaven) Sumler; children, Merkie Fay Sumler (Victoria) and Randle Preston Sumler (Crystal) both of Hazard, Kentucky; brothers, Paul Sumler and Roland Sumler both of Whitley City, Kentucky; sister, Wilma McHale of Whitley City, Kentucky; and grandchildren, Treston Sumler, Faith Sumler, Dalton Napier, Aaron Riley Sumler, Colton and Bryson Sumler.
Funeral services will be held Monday September 4, 2017 at 3pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Rufus Hughes officiating. Burial to follow in the Davis Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm Monday at the Funeral Home.
