Clara Evelyn Vanover, age 95 years, of Beaverton, Michigan, died Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in Bay City, Michigan.
She was born in McCreary County, Kentucky on May 7, 1925 the daughter of George Albert and Maggie (Hughes) Young. Clara had worked as a sewing machine operator in the GM Factory, and was a Rosie the Rivoter on the B-52 Bombers during World War II. She was a member of the Whitley City Church of God, had attended the Bethel Ministry Church, and a member of AARP.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Artman Vanover; brothers, Charlie Young, Raymond Young, George Young, Jr., Bill Young, Samuel Young, Dave Young, Jimmy Young, and Cloyd Young; and sisters, Lona Howard, Nora Wilson, Desda Watters, and Ida Ballou.
Survivors include her daughters, Carla Richard and husband, James of Beaverton, Michigan and Beverly Johnson and husband, Billy of Hartsville, South Carolina; brother Cecil Young and wife, Shirley of Whitley City; grandchildren, Pearl Moore, Brian Moore (Lisa), John Hargis II, Melissa Stockton (Peter), and Axia Roberts; and great grandchildren, Mariah Hargis, Shawn Moore, Madison Stockton, Allison Stockton, Johnny Hargis, Jayden Hargis, Jaxson Hargis, Gabriel Hargis, Jayce Hargis, Chaylynn Corder, William Stockton, Jacob Stockton Laczko, Emily Moore, Scarlet Moore, and Aila Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 11am in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Dixon and Bro. Walter Wallace officiating. Burial to follow in the Yancey-Strunk Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the funeral home.
