CHRISTINE BELL

Christine (New) Bell, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the McCreary Health and Rehab Center in Pine Knot, Kentucky.  She had attained the age of 84 years, 7 months and 8 days.

Christine had been a sales clerk at O.O. Duncan’s Variety Store, Conatser’s Clothing Store, and Charlene’s in Whitley City, and had worked at Store 1 in Stearns.  She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church at Bell Farm.

Born May 26, 1930, in Paint Cliff, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Nettie Mae (Branscum) New.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Cecil Bell who died April 6, 1991.  Also preceding her in death are brothers and sisters; Hubert New, Ray New, Nobel New, Oderia New, Eva Whited, Elsie Smith, infants Rodney, Curtis, Bobby and Rosalie New.

Surviving family include her children; Freida Madine Callahan (husband Bob), Somerset, Kentucky, Tyrus Delynn Bell (wife Kathleen), Yorktown Indiana, Cathy Colleen Cox (husband Rick), Pioneer, Tennessee,  Rollie Brent Bell (wife Diane), Muncie, Indiana, and Eric Scott Bell (wife Cheryl), Science Hill, Kentucky.  Her sisters and brothers are; Jewel Dean Sumner, Whitley City, KY, Deanna Duncan, Monticello, KY, Donna Baker, Frankfort, KY, Shannon New (wife Mabel), Selma, Indiana, Maynard New (wife Lois), Hilltop, KY, Leonard New (wife Vonda), Stearns, KY, 13 grandchildren (one deceased), 19 great grandchildren (2 deceased) and six great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Inman and Bro. Rick Cox officiating.  Music will be by the Freddie Hill family.  She will be laid to rest at the Mt. View Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time for services.
