Cameron Duane Burke, age 19 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Monday, June 17, 2024 in Strunk, Kentucky.
He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 2, 2005 the son of Michael and Loretta (Garland) Burke. Cameron was a caregiver at Oakwood and a member of the Pleasant Rock United Baptist Church. It is difficult to describe Cameron because he was…. Well, he was Cameron. To know him was to love him fiercely but to spend a lot of time shaking your head. Cameron was the very definition of someone who lit up a room. If he was anywhere near you, you knew he was there. He had enough personality for ten people, and generally was loud enough to announce his presence from several rooms away.
Cameron had an impeccable and completely him sense of style, and would make sure every detail of his look was in place before he walked out the door. That attention to detail didn’t carry over to other things, and he more than once walked out of a room and left the water running after getting a glass of water. Cameron loved deeply. He spent his life trying to figure out where he fit into the world and he knew what it felt like to need love. He wanted to make sure others never felt like that. If you were lucky enough to be loved by him, you knew it. He made everyone feel special. He especially had a heart for those who needed extra love, and greatly enjoyed spending time with children and those with different needs.
He enjoyed sports of any kind and was a member of various baseball, football, basketball, and wrestling teams. His great sports love, though, was baseball and Jackie Robinson.
He was always up for an adventure and fully embraced the joys in life. He loved the water-lake or pool, fishing, swimming, or camping-if there was water, he was likely in it or near it.
More than anything, he loved his family, his friends, and his God. We always knew he was going to make a big impact on the world. Through the legacy he leaves with the ones he loved, he did.
His father precedes him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Loretta Burke of Stearns, Kentucky; daughters, Iris Smith of Whitley City, Kentucky and one baby girl on the way; brothers, Harley Burke of Stearns, Kentucky and Davon Burke of Berea, Kentucky; sisters, Jessica Burke (Jason Fahey) of Shelbyville, Kentucky and Jennifer Burke-Bryant (Greg) of Berea, Kentucky; nieces and nephew, Raigan Privett, Taylor Privett, and Michael Burke; and best friend, Leroy Bremiller.
Funeral services will be held 3pm Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Dustin Shannon and Bro. Garredd Corder officiating. Burial will follow in the Angel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 10am Saturday at the Funeral Home.
