Boyd Frank Coffey, age 74 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born in McCreary County, Kentucky on January 22, 1947 the son of Elmer and Dorothy (Coffey) Coffey. Boyd served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Army, had worked for the Blue Diamond Coal Company, was a deacon and janitor of the Lower Wolf Creek United Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, studying his Bible, and playing his guitar and singing.
His parents and brother, Dester Coffey precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Irene (Branscum) Coffey of Stearns, Kentucky; children, Steve Coffey and his significant other, Sylvia McGinnis, Deborah Slaven and husband, Gordon, Rodney Coffey and wife, Tonya, and Angela Coffey all of Stearns, Kentucky; brothers and sisters, Boyce Coffey and wife, Bessie, Jesse Coffey, Ganel Dressback, Sue Shoopman and husband, Orville Junior; Orville Coffey and wife, Bonnie, Norma Inman, and Darrell Coffey; grandchildren, Michael Coffey, Brian Coffey and wife, Katlyn, Ashlyn Slaven, Tristan Slaven, and Tanner Slaven; great grandchildren, Ivory Coffey, Astrid Coffey, and Magnus Coffey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. David Vaughn and Bro. Delbert David Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Corder Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12pm Saturday at the Funeral Home.
