Bobby Lee “Bob” Sumner, age 77, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born in Whitley City, on September 16, 1939, to the late Paul Sumner and Alice (King) Sumner Patrick.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pauline (Keith) Sumner, sons: Bobby Sumner, Jr. and Rick (wife Connie) Sumner, daughters: Cindy New (husband Wayne) and Teressa Brown (husband Larry), grandchildren: Jessica Mason, Brandon New, Chaz Duncan, Charli DeLaughter, Chadden Duncan, Kelsie Brown, Bree Brown, Derrick Sumner, Dustin Sumner, Natalie Sumner, Steven Gibson, Jerry Cox and 16 great grand children.
He has two sisters: Pat Phillips and Maxine (husband Lee) Hyden, and one brother: Ron (wife Florida) Sumner.
Bob was a member of Taylor Ridge Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a well-known member of the community as the owner of Bob’s Auto Sales for the past 45 years. He loved going to church, jeep riding and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday,January 3, 2017, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Staley and Bro. Lenville Maxwell officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Old Pigeon Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m at the funeral home.
