Betty Lou Whalen

Betty Lou Whalen, age 69, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Born January 21, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Rachel Elizabeth (Hill) West.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her companion of more than 30 years, Charles Stephens, two brothers, William West and Johnny West and a sister; Minnie Mae West.

Surviving family include her daughter Kathy Ann Davis of Pine Knot, a brother Carl (and Betty) West of Pine Knot, a special great niece, Brianna West, two grandchildren and a very special friend Donnie Brown.

Betty had done factory work in Detroit, Michigan before moving to McCreary County, she was of the Church of God faith and enjoyed crocheting.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. David Burton officiating.  She was laid to rest at the Privett Cemetery in Strunk.
