Betty Jean Stephens, age 80 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died March 17, 2012 in Somerset, Kentucky at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 1pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Rufus Hughes officiating. Burial was in the Barren Fork Cemetery.
She was born February 23, 1932 the daughter of the late Andrew and Mahala (Cook) Calhoun. She was a homemaker, a member of the Whitley City First Baptist Church and Historical and Genealogy Societies.
Her parents, husband, Roosevelt Stephens, son, William Austin Ray; brothers, Arnold Calhoun, Amos Calhoun, Alfred Bradley Calhoun, Lewis Lloyd Calhoun, and Wendell Calhoun; and sisters, Mazie Minnier, Bertha Morgan, and Alma Maurer precede her in death.
Survivors include her son, Dennis Stephens of Oneida, Tennessee; and daughters, Sharon Meadows of Burnside, Kentucky, Pamela Creekmore of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Linda Jones of Whitley City, Kentucky, and Amanda McQueary of Revelo, Kentucky. 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.
